Living and painting in the West has given me the opportunity to form a particular view of this genre of landscape painting. I rarely paint landscapes that have been affected by man’s influence, but rather choose to paint the unspoiled parts of nature. In capturing the pure part of our Western environment, the resulting painting may be an artistic preservation of the area.
My paintings
embody the principles of fractals- repetition and randomness -
elements that are found in nature. Each composition is held
together by an energetic pattern that must permeate the entire
surface of the painting. The layering and spattering of paint
produces a visual interplay of rhythm and pattern. My goal is to have
each painting evoke a sense of wonder and awe through the colors,
complexities, and composition.
